The Black
Tulip |
June 1789, days before
the capture of the Bastille, the French nobles
are attacked by a mysterious knight who signs
his exploits by leaving a black tulip behind.
This masked villain is none other that
Julien de Saint Preux, the young and passionate
freedom fighter who mingles with the rich and
defends the poor.
During a mission, Julien suddenly
falls into a trap set up by the police
lieutenant La Mouche. In the duel between them,
Julien suffers a nasty cut on his face. His
identity is sure to be revealed among the
nobility of France, unless his twin brother
takes his place as the famous "Black Tulip" and
continues his work until the end.
(This
musical is an adaptation of the 1957 French
film starring Alain Delon and loosely based on
Alexandre Duma's
novel) |

Martin Eden |
|
Turining Jack London's
autobiographic novel into a staged
production is composer Gregory Nissen's lifetime
endeavor. This project was originally
conceived as an opera, but a chance encounter in
2010 between Julia and Gregory brought about
Martin Eden, the musical.
